Discover the natural treasures of Dalebrook, and learn about the diversity on our doorstep!
MPA Day is a special day on our calendar – we get to celebrate South Africa’s incredible Marine Protected Areas and the abundance of life that they boast! Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are chosen for their unique biodiversity, heritage significance, and importance to maintaining the biosphere. These places are bursting with marine life, from vibrant coral reefs to teeming wetlands. MPA Day honours these areas and reminds us of their value to us and marine biodiversity.
On Saturday, 5 August 2023, we are hosting an exciting Treasure Hunt from 10h30 to 12h00 at Dalebrook Tidal Pool, part of the Table Mountain National Park MPA. We won’t be searching for gold but for colourful anemones, split-fan kelp, spiky urchins, tiny sea stars, the odd octopus, and much more!
Bring your family along for a fun morning of ocean adventures with expert teams from the Two Oceans Aquarium. Don’t forget your camera or cell phone, so you can join us in finding as many of Dalebrook's iconic species as you can.
Details:
- When: Saturday, 5 August 2023, from 10h30 to 12h00
- Where:Dalebrook Tidal Pool, St James/Kalk Bay
- Wear: Non-slip shoes and waterproof or quick-drying clothing
- Bring: Hat, sunscreen, water in a reusable bottle, and camera/cell phone

Everyone who adds their name and contact information to the registration form at the Treasure Hunt will be automatically entered into an ocean-inspired lucky draw!
