Vacancy: ECD TEACHER
The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation is the non-profit public benefit partner of the Two Oceans Aquarium. The Foundation’s main focus-areas are Conservation, Education and Research. With a dire need to promote conservation and sustainability, we are constantly looking for creative ways of expanding our reach and enthusiastic team members to help us achieve our ambitious goals.
We are currently looking for a dynamic individual to fill the role of an ECD TEACHER. This position ideally requires a dynamic, fun-loving and energetic person. The ideal candidate must be capable of interacting well with teachers, school groups, parents, children and tourists. Candidates must have strong organizational skills, be decisive and have excellent oral communication skills. This position is aquarium-based with regular travel to schools in surrounding areas.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Executing teaching duties by performing puppet/theatre shows and presenting accompanying lessons to school groups and the public.
- Maintaining all aspects of the ECD Centre facility; organizing activities and crafts, daily operations including stock counts, monitoring maintenance faults and cleanliness in the centre.
Requirements:
- Higher Certificate in Early Childhood Development with Montessori Specialization 3- 6 stage.
- Two to three years of experience working within the field
- An excellent command of the English language is essential, as well as fluency in Afrikaans.
- Valid driver’s license for more than a year.
- Excellent computer & MS Office skills are essential.
- The ability to work independently without supervision.
- Ability to work with cash, calculate and receive payments.
- Be available to work flexible hours between 7am and 7pm including weekends, public and school holidays.
Reporting to: ECD CO-ORDINATOR Starting date: 1 December 2024
Salary: To be discussed at interview
